FORE our Camp Hope kidz!
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Thank you to everyone who made the 2010 Camp Hope Golf Tournament a SUCCESS! 46 players participated in our annual golf tournament fundraiser Monday, April 26 at Woodmont Golf & Country Club in Canton, GA. Despite the very odd weather (cold and windy one minute – sunny and warm the next), the rain held off and players had a great time! We’re still calculating the amount raised but we know one thing – God is SO good. We are so thankful for the many supporters of kidz2leaders – our prayer warriors, volunteers and donors. This ministry would not be capable of touching the number of prisoners’ children without your support! Thank you.

Counselor Retreat 2010!
Monday, April 19th, 2010The Counselor Retreat was amazing! This retreat is for those campers who are now counselors…and it’s a weekend I look forward to every year! The kids are so much fun and more than anything, I enjoy just watching them hang out. This year, 19 camper-turned-counselors and 6 of us “adults” (can you really call us adults if we enjoy this as much as the kids?) traveled to Camp Evergreen in Clarkesville, GA for a weekend retreat April 9-11. The theme for the retreat was “Running the Race” from Hebrews 12:1-3 and we had sessions talking about overcoming obstacles and hearing God. When we weren’t having sessions and singing Camp Hope songs, we hiked to a waterfall (where some of the boys were brave enough to jump in the FREEZING water), canoed, made smores over a campfire, and did the Blob. Included are some pictures below:

Camp Hope Counselor Applications Online
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010Camp Hope applications are available online at www.kidz2leaders.org! Camp Hope will be held July 10-16, 2010 at the Rock Eagle 4-H Campground in Eatonton, GA. Here’s how you can serve as an adult or student counselor this summer:
- Returning Counselors and Volunteers: Please complete and return the counselor application packet by May 10, 2010.
- New Counselors and Volunteers: Please attend one informational meeting at Mt. Bethel UMC on May 12, 6:00-8:00 p.m. or May 16, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Please sign-up by calling the Camp Hope office (770-977-7751). Applications are due by June 1, 2010.
- Counselor positions are limited, so please adhere to the above deadlines. Applications are received on a first-come, first-serve basis. If positions fill quickly, you or your child may be put on a wait-list.
We hope you’ll join us for our 11th year of fun!!
Go Fish!
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010Don’t miss an exciting silent auction to benefit Camp Hope going on now in Mt. Bethel’s Grace Gallery! Eighteen fish have been designed and painted by Mt. Bethel Christian Academy students in the ArtWalk club. The silent auction ends on Sunday, February 28th at 12:30 PM. All proceeds will go toward Camp Hope. This is a great opportunity to make a difference and come home with a one-of-a-kind piece of art!
Hawks Game
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010On MLK Day, we took 17 of our Leadership campers to a Hawks game. This is an annual even we do for those campers who are entering the 2nd level of Leadership, also known as Sr. LIT, or for those campers who have graduated from Sr. LIT. After lunch at the Varsity (yum!), we watched the Atlanta Hawks play the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a close game…even down to the last minute, but even though the Hawks lost, the kids enjoyed hanging out with one another!

10-Year Anniversary Scrapbook
Monday, October 26th, 2009One of our talented Camp Hope volunteers designed a digital 10-Year Anniversary Scrapbook that features pictures and memories from Camp Hope 2009. A copy was presented to Diane Parrish, but the book is available for anyone to order through the Creative Memories website. Proceeds from the book benefits Camp Hope. It would make a great Christmas gift!

Camp Hope Benefit Concert
Monday, September 14th, 2009Come praise God with us as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary of Camp Hope with a special worship concert Sunday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Rev. Diane Parrish and Robert McMichael. This annual concert helps raise funds for kidz2leaders, inc. which ministers to the children of men and women incarcerated in the state of Georgia.

The concert will be held in the Sanctuary at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church located at 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
