Volunteering
Camp Hope could not exist without our volunteers! We have a need for teens, college students and adults who are willing to step out in faith and join us in our endeavors to change the direction of these children’s lives. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Student Counselors
These counselors are 9th-12th graders or in college. They are leaders and well-grounded in their Christian faith. We ask that all counselors go through the Camp Hope training and are able to commit the entire week of camp. Every teen counselor is paired in a one-on-one relationship with a camper. College counselors might have two or three campers. We have high expectations for our counselors because we depend on them to oversee their camper 24/7. In addition, counselors learn how to be a “kid” again with their camper and teach their camper by actions rather than words. The teen or college counselor is not only a counselor, but a mentor, sister or brother, and friend for the whole week. Every cabin is led by a head counselor that supports each counselor in many ways.
Cabin Leaders
Cabin Leaders are responsible for their cabin. They set the example for the campers and counselors in their cabin. Cabin leaders are expected to be problem-solvers and keep their cabin on the daily schedule. Those interested in being a cabin leader must fill-out a separate application in addition to the counselor application to be considered. We ask that only individuals that have served as counselors for at least two years apply for this position - please know that is not a guaranteed position. The application can be found on our Forms page.
Adult Counselors
Adult counselors, too, play an important role at camp. They are assigned to a cabin where they oversee teen or college counselors and campers. In this role adult counselors provide support through prayer, advice, and encouragement to the counselors and campers. They help nourish the counselor and camper relationship and maintain the cabin "family."
Middle-School Volunteers
We also have a need for volunteers in middle school. Cabin Couriers must have completed the 7th grade. These volunteers are assigned to a cabin as the liaison between the cabin and Camp Hope office.
Children of Volunteers
Children 5th grade and younger are able to stay at kidzkamp so their Mom or Dad can serve as an Adult Counselor. Children of Volunteers have their own counselors, adults and fun schedule at Camp Hope!
If you aren't able to serve as a counselor the entire week of Camp Hope, there are day volunteer opportunities such as:
- Transportation: Volunteers are needed to assist with camper check-in and camper check-out at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.
- Gopher: Each day at camp, an adult is needed to pick-up prescriptions, shop for supplies, wash clothes and other errands.
- Recreation: Adults are needed to help coordinate sports and games at camp for the day.
- Medical: Adults with medical training and expertise are needed at check-in at Mt. Bethel and each day at Camp Hope.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Cris Hunt at 770-977-7751 or cris.hunt@kidz2leaders.org.
