DONATE NOW

SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR OUR KIDZ ON TUESDAY!

GAGives.org is promoting an extra day of generosity for extra challenging circumstances. Donations toward this campaign will ensure Kidz2Leaders can seamlessly provide stability, opportunity, and a Christian community to children of inmates, many of which have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

OUR NEED

The PPP provision of the CARES Act will help sustain our ministry in the short term.  Your donations toward ongoing operations will ensure services continue through the summer and into 2021.  We are currently reworking our budgets to accommodate the following programming changes that have become necessary.

Impact of our current environment on our programming:

  • Kidz2Leaders’ Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Camp Hope – This event, our primary spring fundraising event scheduled for April 27, had to be cancelled.
  • Camp Hope – While our May session has been postponed, we are actively planning for Camp Hope in July.  If overnight camp is ultimately deemed unsafe, we will deliver our messages of love, forgiveness, trust, joy, and servant leadership through smaller day camp sessions or small group mentoring and discipleship.
  • Interns4Tomorrow – Monthly I4T training has continued via Zoom with strong participation from students and volunteers  Students will  maintain the opportunity to earn income this summer, even if in-office internships are impossible.  Alternative plans include remote work, online certifications, special projects, and virtual mentoring.
  • Family & Alumni Support – We have facilitated over $13,000 in financial assistance since March thanks to Stand Together and private donors.  Staff continue to connect families with food, housing and employment resources.  Parents and alumni have found connection through our recurring Bible studies on Zoom, and individual check-ins.

YOUR GENEROSITY WILL ALLOW CHILDREN OF THE INCARCERATED TO EXPERIENCE STABILITY, OPPORTUNITY, AND A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY THIS SUMMER.

This is what it's all about. There is a cyclical This is what it's all about.

There is a cyclical pattern that results from the trauma, isolation, and instability that comes with parental incarceration. But that doesn't have to be the end of the story for the kids we serve. 99% of our graduates are living free from incarceration. Every session of summer camp, every internship placement, every connection made at a family camp weekend, every Hope4Christmas gift... it's all part of breaking the cycle.

Together, we're ending generational incarceration in our city.

Families of inmates report stigmatization and feel Families of inmates report stigmatization and feelings of isolation. Having a parent become incarcerated is one of the top ten adverse childhood experiences—a form of trauma, which is then compounded by the shame families often feel. Parental incarceration leaves brokenness and instability in its wake. Families shouldn't have to walk alone.

Kidz2Leaders invites families into a year-round support system, providing community, connection, resources, and programs designed to form long-lasting relationships.
