Why prisoners’ children?

Child Evangelism Fellowship reports that there are 2.1 million prisoners incarcerated in this country. There are more than seven million children who have a parent under some form of correctional supervision.

According to U.S. Senate Report (Report 106-404 September 8, 2000), children of prisoners are six times more likely than other children to be incarcerated at some point in their lives. Without effective intervention strategies, as many as 70 percent of these children will become involved with the criminal justice system.

Our goal is to break the vicious cycle of incarceration.

What other programming do you offer other than Camp Hope?

Camp Hope is just the entry-point into these children’s lives and the beginning of a long relationship with our campers! After camp, kidz2leaders offers a variety of programs for campers including field trips, family days, weekend retreats, mentoring, and an annual Christmas party of campers and their parents. Campers who have graduated to be counselors are invited to a special Counselor Retreat each fall and are also invited to apply to be a part of our interns4tomorrow program. We also offer a food pantry throughout the year for our Camp Hope families. For more information about these programs, please visit our Programs page.

Do the campers live only in Cobb County?

No, we work with campers who live throughout the metro-Atlanta area including Cobb, Fulton, Dekalb, Rockdale, Gwinnett, Newton, Spalding, Paulding, Douglas, Cherokee, Henry, and Clayton.
